Ratites have similar behavioral methods as well as their physical characteristics.
- All Struthioniformes nest on the ground. During the nesting period, the male is responsible for the incubation of the eggs.
- The eggs are large and have thick shells on them to be protected from predators. They have communal nests, meaning that they share incubation with others. Only one egg can be incubated at a time, but they canlay up to seven eggs in two weeks.
- When hatched, babies are much more developed than most species. They can walk immediately when they are hatched.
- They are all omnivorous. Young ones feed solely on vegetation until they are developed enough to catch and feed on their own food. As adults, Struthioniformes feed on nearly everything.
- They find most of their food b sticking their beaks in trees and logs to catch bugs, or eating the leaves and grass.
